The dentist isn’t that bad. The worst thing is having to keep your mouth open for long time. Any fillings or extraction that might need to b done, you won’t even feel because they numb you up.

Nothing to be afraid of. They are there to help you mariapalmer,remember that.

I’m not massively afraid of what they’re actually doing it just because I feel so sick all the time I’m worried it’s going to make me gag or throw up x

Hi..make the effort and you will be glad you did , don't forget to talk to the dentist and let them know how you feel they will be helpful and supportive and guide you through the process, then keep up regular checkups!..good luck!

I find it a struggle from the moment I wake up to actually go there I cancelled last time as I was shaking and couldn’t even function. I know I need to go and will be glad when it’s done with . I will go or I’ll end up with not being able to eat ! Thankyou!

I totally understand! I had a panic attack at the dentist because my mouth felt so numb and back toward my throat and I thought I couldn’t breathe right! Another time I thought the novacaine made my heart race up. My son actually graduates from dental school in May, so he will be doing my dental work. But don’t think that makes it any easier. It’s actually worse because I don’t want to embarrass him or die in the chair in his office. I told him about my experiences and he laughed. He said it’s impossible for the numbing meds to cause you to stop breathing. He did say they CAN speed up your heart, but you can ask for one that does not do that. He wants to use laughing gas on me, I said NO way! The thought of being out of control scares me to death. The truth is that if we are scared to go to the dentist we should know it’s just our anxiety and go right on anyway. The fearful feelings are only feelings and cannot hurt us! We will be fine.

Hi Usagold, the novacaine can and does make your heart race. I'm only able to use what is called CARBO. Your son will know what that is. No epinephrine... works great. xx
