I am only typing because I’m in the bathroom bored waiting for my hair to color. I do feel a tad tired. Anyways i wanted to know is this related to tmj. I was on my phone scrolling when I felt the jolt-like sensation above my ear on the same side I was grinding my teeth for like an hour. I’m scrolling through and feel this sensation in my thumb then i feel it in the side of my head above my ear. It’s not a persistent dull ache or an ache period . Idk 🤦🏽♀️ moving along... lol

I had Tmj for years and didn’t know I had it. I couldn’t figure out why my jaw hurt so bad when I chewed. And it would pop when I tried to open my mouth wide. I guess I was grinding my teeth while I slept. My dentist made me a tray to wear on my bottom teeth while I sleep. It cost $200. I didn’t know at the time that I could get something similar that athletes wear at Walmart for under $10.00.
I never felt it anywhere except for my jaw, so I’m not sure why you are having symptoms on the side of your head and your thumb.
I know I’m not much help, but I thought I’d share my experience with tmj anyway. I hope you get some answers.
Yeah I have trouble chewing properly because my jaw will feel like there’s glue in it lol. I do get aches like right above there . Dull aches that is. It sucks . I’m overdue for a dentist appt lol
