What meds are ppl on and is there any certain ones yous would recommend? I know every one reacts different to certain meds but I've been prescribed sertraline and a lot of ppl says they felt awful to start with but I don't think I could stick a tablet for 6-8 weeks to feel ill til the tablet got in my system. I just want to feel better instantly

Meds
I am currently on Lexapro. I just started it so I can't say whether it works or not. I've also been on Paxil and Zoloft. Paxil worked fine but Zoloft was the WORST! And I had horrible side effects when I stopped taking it. I've been seeing TV ads for Cymbalta. I wouldn't mind trying that. Like you, I just want to feel better instantly, but unfortunately it will take time.
I regret that NO antidepressant works instantly. They all take up to 28 days before they work. I am on Sertraline and expect to be on it for the rest of my life. When I started it, I did have a swollen tongue for a week or so. I had to be careful that I didn't bite it by mistake when eating. I need slightly more than 50mg to keep me "normal" which means that I occasionally have 100mg on an even-numbered day of the month. When I know I am going to get stressed, such as when breaking my rigid routine by going on holiday, I need to take the maximum 200mg a day. Try the website getselfhelp.co.uk for really helpful therapeutic worksheets while you wait for the Sertraline to kick in.
It was only the end of my tongue which swelled. I don't remember feeling that it restricted my airways at all. Anyway, side effects vary from person to person, so you may not have this. Anyway, getting your head right is even more important than how easily you breath, don't you think? Thanks for the message, anyway.
