My new doc wants me to try hydroxzine with Zoloft instead of xanax with Zoloft.

Thoughts? Experiences?

Your doc probably just wants to get you off of benzos, I know a lot of docs are skeptical of their long term effects.

How was the Xanax/Zoloft combo working for you? Did the doc change it cause it wasn't working or because they want you off Xanax.

Anyway, I've heard mixed reviews about hydroxzine. Some people say it works great and really helped, while others say it doesn't do much, so if I were you I would give it a try and hopefully it will work great for you! And if it doesn't I'm sure your doctor will give you something else

I think it's a lot like benydryl where it makes you sleepy and calms you down as a sedative more than say Zoloft, which works to fix chemical imbalances and make you stop overthinking. So your doc probably wants you to try both together to attack both fronts.

Hope the new med combo helps you out!

So the xanax and Zoloft combo worked great. I do think she wants me off the xanax but told me I could taper slowly. She raised my Zoloft from 75 to 100.

Thank you for your reply.
