Hi hollyjean. Talking things out helps me. I`ve been on this site for a few weeks and I come back to it everyday... If your having trouble with your anxiety... look for advice online about different techniques.... Breathing control is one good one... Try and sort through your mind and isolate what is causing the anxiety.... when I get an attack now I know I have to separate the many thoughts to locate what causing the attack.... Is it real or imagined worry.... how bad is it really.... Thoughts can't hurt you... Its the relationship to the thoughts that hurt us.... Anxiety can't kill us... Its our actions surrounding the thoughts that can be harmful..My best advice is always talk talk talk it out ... Peace and love xsteve

Hi, a number of things I try when I get ill.... Distraction (talk to a friend, phone a help line, read a book), go for long brisk walk (at least 20 mins), calm breathing combined with tensing and relaxing my muscles (you'll be able to find guidelines in the internet), imagining that I'm breathing in bright white calming light (keep breathing deep and slow, don't hyperventilate!). Obviously go to gp and ask to go on list for counselling...but the things above can be done immediately. Big hug xxx

Hi there and welcome:)

I use mindfulness.

There are some good sites to help you with this. The one I use is "Headspace"

I do this every morning before I do anything else.

There is another which is just as good, calm.com give them ago, you never know, it may just help:) x

Hi hollyjean

Yes I have a teenage daughter .

Do you have family near by that you can rely on?

If not, try going to your local community centre/ leisure centre. They will have group for single parents, you can maybe speak with the group leader and explain how your feeling, you will be surprised how many parents single or not that are going through the same thing and suffering in silence.

Maybe a talk with the doctor would help, they could suggest a few other ideas.

When I'm ill I do my deep breathing so I'm in a good frame of mind to look after my daughter, I keep in mind that my child comes before any thing and I'm a strong person.

But that's just me.

Have a word with your doctor . Hope that helps, but keep talking on here, there are a few mummies on here that might give you other suggestions:) xx

mouthbreathing into a paper bag is good for a panic attack/anxiety,,also rescue remedy is good, have tried this and it works,,other than this, try and get to the cause of the anxiety (the beginning) and realise that you are your own healer,,when anxiety strikes stand still and when nothing bad happens take one step after the other, repeat this if another attack comes,,keep asking yourself 'what if I do this' I am not going to let anything bad happen,,I have the right to be here ,etc,,be strong, keep smiling, move on,,x

Hello the tips that everyone suggested are super and I also want to add some that have helped me in my life:

1) be around the right people that inspire you to achieve your dreams, people that love and care for you, people that build you up and not those that tear you down

2) forgive anyone that may have hurt you and forgive yourself if you have ever hurt someone

3) Go for long walks or for some healthy fresh air, if you can't go for long walks take fresh air breaks this can also help you to feel fresh and uplifted

4) Write a list of all the good things that have ever happened to you and think about how blessed and lucky you are

5) Write a list of all of your goals, dreams and aspirations and write a plan of how you can make them happen, even if it seems impossible still have fun with creating your dreams and plans

6) Read books on overcoming anxiety, building confidence and conquering fear or on the specific issue that bothers you

7) pray, praying really relieves anxiety and depression and makes burdens leave your shoulders.

8) speak with a trusted friend or call the Samaritans, they are really good at listening and building people up :-)

9) build a very high level of self-esteem, confidence and self-worth, write a list of 40 of your best qualities and achievements and say these great things out each day and say things to yourself such as 'I can do this', 'I am confident', 'I am courageous', 'I am bold', 'I am capable and able', 'I have great gifts and talents', 'I love myself'.

10) write in your journal, get to the root of your problems by writing in your journal and it can really be healing for you and lift burdens also :-)

Hope this helps and wishing you lots of love and strength for today. Xx

take deep breaths and put something cold on your stomach even though your stomach doesnt hurt it still helps, and think positive, i watched a video that said you should just let the anxiety hit you, and say "is that all you got in your head" i havent done it yet but i want to try it, its all mind over matter, so when it hits you,, dont let it take control pretend its not even there.

Hi hollyjean. I've found that a short walk, focusing on my surroundings, breathing deeply soon helps to calm me...
