how to stay positive and optimistic about being able to pass a board exam

hey guys, I hope you’re doing well. I have a board exam coming up in seven days and the closer it gets to the date the more overwhelmed I become. For some reason I have this idea that I’m going to fail and I convince myself that I am so stupid and I think about times where I didn’t do well on exams and I use that to validate my feeling of not being able to pass. I’ve studied very hard for this exam and I know a lot and I feel like I can do this. It’s more about just mentally preparing myself, and not psyching myself out with my anxiety. I can already see myself going into the testing site and becoming overwhelmed from my nerves, so I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to self regulate And go into the test positive and optimistic because I know that I can do this. I just need to believe it.

Lots of good guided sleep meditations on YouTube relating to anxiety. I use them a lot and they help with negative thoughts. Good luck and sure you will pass !

Back in the analog days, I would drive to the testing site a cpl of times before an important exam (one was like 7+hrs!) so I hv one less thing to worry about (getting lost, traffic, parking, etc). Definitely rest in btwn your study sessions and don't cram the night before. For the nxt few days, make sure to hydrate, eat enough, and get good quality sleep....I remember I'd sometimes spend more time worrying than actually studying...lol...so, don't do that.

You got this!

Crusty old guy here. Here is my input for what it is worth.

If you have put in the work, you should be fine. Do not psyche yourself out.

While studying, perhaps find a distraction for 5 or 10 minutes every hour. It might be a bit of a stretching or a bit of relaxation for the brain box. Also remember to drink something. If you get dehydrated, your mind will wander. However, lay of excessive cups of coffee. Not good for the stomach, the metabolism, or the brain box. Too much coffee can turn you zombie as well.

Finally, remember to eat decently, and get some quality sleep because nodding off during the exam is not good form, especially if you snore.

Best of luck
