You get 10 bucks while they sell your data for thousands in profit....hmmmmm. Data is the new currency.

Sure is, I feel eventually EVERYTHING is driven by data, everything you do can be "monitored " I refuse all cookies on websites, and as for scam calls these are a blot on our phone privacy, far to much is reliant on a big brother computers, eventually they'll be no help lines, and even end up " chatting " with voice controlled bots which some are already in place, look at any decent scientific films have shown us " our" future the things we all thought was science fiction has become facts, talk about selling your soul to the devil, we've got little choice on how our future is mapped out 😬

I also use a VPN.... you should have a right to privacy...I certified to work on comp. repair before the internet, and then re-certified for Net security, Networking, etc...and the first thing I learned at the very, very beginning of the first internet usage was...'If you don't want it available to anyone else...don't put it out there on the web'..... And also that nothing is free.... every so called free app....or website,... or small support 3rd party program is going to cost you in terms of access to your privacy and by allowing use of your personal and private data posted.

I was an admin. years ago on a site very much like this.... and believe me... anything you post here is not accessible by HU.... everything. So use a secure encrypted email for personal discussions...just an FYI.

I read a lot of articles in privacy international, everything is discussed, digital money, facial recognition, all different subjects that they discuss, yes frightening how data is stored, using computers for certain algorithms and trying to predict what or if someone is trying to gain advantage along the way, I'm at the stage in my life where we are fighting a losing battle, someone or something is gaining an advantage against people who have no interest in the modern technology battle, I once asked Alexa if she could get her hands on some used plutonium 🤣 the answer was, " hmm I don't know that one" 🤣 voice activated eh, this was over in friends house I don't fancy having one of these devices, I'm paranoid as it is🤣 I trust only myself, and not those who intend to make the world some dystopian world that awaits future generations .

There was a very short lived tv show called 'Years and Years'....where the household 'Alexa' becomes more like the computer 'HAL' in the movie '2001 Space Odyssey'. And the reality is.... between Google, Amazon, the National Security Agency’s mass surveillance, and all the international actors like China, Russia, etc. etc.... all bets of privacy are off with the invention of a little item called 'the Quantum Qubit' used with algorithms... security and encryption will be non-existent.

So if you want security.... keep everything in your head....because most people don't realize that right now....as I'm typing this...every keystroke can be monitored with 'typekit' and recorded....my laptops Microsoft uses the microphone and camera as well as do other 3rd party apps, to actually not really 'spy and listen' to you as we are just not that important to anyone, but to collect data....Don't believe me...check your Win. 10 or 11 settings and see who you have unknowingly allowed to collect that data....and after you stop screaming....remember... 'Don't put anything on the internet that's going to come back later and bite you in the Butt'....hence...no more drunken Facebook bar photo's or love picks to your partner....most HR's at corps. check your FB page as well as your resume or CV.

Just use common sense....basic rule to go by.

Yes sobering thoughts, I don't use Facebook, and trying to get a mobile phone without this app is not the easiest of tasks as many have the app built in,as they said in the old days , "loose lips sinks ships" , I have no interest in other people's activities as such, I know our movement's can be monitored, your mobile phone is the perfect tracking device, and certain government departments even know where you go shopping, the information is becoming more readily available, the most heavily country covered by cctv in Europe, and the invasion of privacy into people's bank accounts, if the government are trying to say that people who receive taxpayers money aren't allowed this freedom, surely that same should be the same rules for mp's who are paid by taxpayers, I would love if someone hacked all those with hidden assets had there I'll gotten gains distributed among those in less fortunate situations, and at the hit of a button folks would find a decent amount of money in their accounts, yes my fantasy world, but harmless THOUGHTS, let's hope my thoughts are knowing that there's worse to come, glad I was born at a time where life was so much easier and simpler , great chatting!!!

Just a heads-up for anyone interested.... you can go into your 'app settings' and turn off your GPS and any other personal data sharing options of almost all your apps. But you won't be able to not be data mined completely. I just get a tiny bit of satisfactions for making it a little harder for them to get my info...

Yes Cb....great chat ...thanks I needed that.... best wishes safer surfing.....
