Anxiety Insomnia

I made a mistake at work last Wednesday. I haven't been able to eat or sleep since then. My anxiety is through the roof. The mistake happened because I panicked. It's my third year and I hate most of my coworkers. I have started to look for a new job but in my field people talk and it may prove difficult. I am not sure what to do. I am trying to schedule with my physician but everything is several weeks out.

Has the issue at work been resolved? As in was your mistake rectified or is it an ongoing problem? If it has been rectified I wouldn’t give it another second thought. If it hasn’t then this is the time to reach out to your supervisor and ask for support. We’re not robots! Human errors happen and I can guarantee you that everyone has made one in their careers too.

The anxiety could be deep rooted! Hang in there on the waiting list.

I wish you the best!

Thank you. It has been resolved. I feel inadequate at times. I am good at my job but I let second guessing/anxiety get the best of me which never happened until I got this job. I don't sleep more than a few hours most nights. I have kiddos so it's hard to catch up on the weekends.

It’s difficult and I know it isn’t as easy to say ok leave because you clearly have dependents. You could look for alternative jobs in the mean time? You spend so much of your time at work, you deserve to be happy there.

Hi. Making a mistake at work is one of my anxieties favorite feeding grounds. What has helped me is writing about it and mindfulness. Try to remember not to believe everything you think. Anxiety is really good at making your brain predict the worst possible outcome. We do not KNOW what other people are thinking or how things will turn out. Take it one moment at a time and let it reveal itself. I know it is easier said than done. But it is something worth the effort. Take care.
