I have been on Venlafaxine xl nearly 3 years and suddenly i started having withdrawal symptoms like anger, jerks, twitches, worse depression, crying, but i was NOT WITHDRAWING. Has anyone else experienced this. My dr has told me to go up. First few days going up ok but then started having anxiety and depression, will this pass, will it get better. Or is this med no longer going to work?

Hi Ryan. I wanted to respond as my very close relative experienced this with this drug (Ven/Effexor) and was told increase but the adjustment period to the increase was awful for her about 3 weeks. Once it was over she was back to good on it. So sorry you’re in the thick of it. Maybe give it a shot to wait it out and hopefully it’ll be good to go. 🙏🏻
Thank you so much for responding. This has aleviated my fear of it never working again. I will definately stick it out now for another 3 weeks and hopefully i will be good to. Much appreciated.
Oh you’re most welcome. Hang in there. I wish the docs would explain to the patient hey it’s doing A cause of B and that’s why we’re increasing it but you’re gonna feel all this crap X amount of time until the new dose. Instead it’s like hey increase it. My relative went through the same and it didn’t help the already present anxiety.
