never ending cycle

I have really bad anxiety when it comes to feeling sick or getting sick. As you know I had a trip and yesterday I really struggled to eat and my stomach was all upset. Today was a little better and I’m planning on having some soup for dinner. However I’m scared because the last time I went on a overnight trip (about two weeks ago) I had really bad stomach pain for a week. I’m now scared this is going to happen again. But I know if I perseverate on it and get worked up about it I’m going to make myself feel that way. I don’t know how to break the cycle

Fear upsets my system and makes me nauseous. I don’t travel well either. I’m afraid something will happen. I try to limit people and situations that make me anxious. But that’s not always possible.

Good luck with your trip.

The best way to break the cycle is to go through it even though its difficult and scary, its a pain i know. It takes time but eventually you have to believe that you are fine and that this is just your "normal" anxious pattern, that lessens the fear of it. Are you in therapy and getting help with it?

I find that distracting myself helps when it comes to health anxiety. My work distracts me. Reading a book distracts me. Exercise distracts me. Conversing with friends and family members distracts me. Playing the piano distracts me. Taking a bath relaxes me.

thank you! I find it’s important to keep myself busy but then I feel the physically symptoms of my anxiety and get worried all over again
