I went to mental health professionals and programs for help. What I got were drugs that ruined my health and mistreatment from mental health professionals who treated me like I was a demented child.
I want this to be my last year on this earth. I've had enough.

Oh wow! Unfortunately that has been my experience especially the last 5 years or more. I refuse to go to another mental health facility because I come out more traumatized on release! So sorry you have experienced this also. I have found that since they have replaced many hospitals behavioral health units with privately run mental health businesses who have no mental health training and are only interested in profit are damaging people!! It makes me very angry!! I guess we could write our Congressman as if they could give a darn!I only know to put my trust in a loving God and pray!! I will pray for your comfort.🙏💗
God ain't listening. Inert got no one to turn to turn to. People drove me over the edge for greed they want the place where I live.
Been in similar shoes. Psychiatrist was of no help and didn't really like he cared much. Paid a couple hundreds for a 15 minute appt. to tell him how I was doing only for him to increase my dosages when I say I feel bad. I dislike psychiatrists for this reason because you need an hour a week or every other week to get to know me and build that connection for me to honestly tell you how I'm doing, why I'm feeling a certain way, and how we should move forward. But they don't. They just ask, you answer, they prescribe. BS.
The best psychiatrists are those who do both. Had that one time and he was the best. He was attentive and kept digging and then would ask for my input, doing his best to compromise with my comfort and his intelligence.

Tell us what is going on. How can we support you? Many of us have felt similarly. My experience with medicine was not horrible. We did try to change it a few times, which ended up badly. We eventually found one that worked.
The tough part about medicines for us is that there are so many kinds and each individual reacts differently to each one. You have to be willing to try different combos and dosages. There is no recipe.
Besides medicine, what have you tried that helped? What are some of your triggers? Do you journal? Do you include gratitudes in your journal?

I was on combo that shut down my digestive tract. I journal usually just write down bunch of negative stuff. I'm older life past me by and I was to deep in denial to realize it.
That is a pretty significant side effect. I am glad you were able to figure out the cause. Because we know so little about how the brain really works, medicine for depression is trial and error.
I used to write just negative ranting my journal. It let me vent, but I felt like it was reinforcing that negativity. I stopped writing for a long time. I met a coach 2 years ago who taught me about gratitude journaling. He has been studying the brain-body connection. There is some research behind ending the day writing, thinking, or speaking a few things you are grateful for. Big, small, current, in the past, people, actions, events…whatever.
I am 52. I spent 30 years solely on the negative. I now have learned to breathe differently to reduce an anxiety attack. I am trying to slow down reacting to triggers so I can chose my reaction better. I have done more growing with my mental health in 2 years than the prior 30 years. I was so tired of being victimized by my past.
I hope you can find a way to move forward and put a positive veil over the bad parts.
Im trying breathing too. I have problems with impulse control. Added to these other issues I'm not secure in my housing. My anxiety level thru the roof.

Yes, stress is intense and challenging. What self-care do you do? Do you qualify for Medicaid? It will really limit your care options since so many places don’t take in Medicaid patients.
Your county should have services for you. If your emotional state is preventing normal daily activities, then they should connect you with a social worker that can help you coordinate care. If you have a primary doctor, talk to him or her. Dial 211 if you need someone to talk to.

At this point I dont thiink Im close to anyone. My depression has made me too moros for people around me. I used to read alot and make models.

Did you apply for disability due to depression? Do this, first. It takes a while. I do not have Medicaid. I have a different disability. I have a caseworker. I also have a nurse through my primary doctor’s office that helps with resources.
I see a therapist weekly and a psychiatrist every few months for meds update. I have had many surgeries in the last 2 years due to an accident. I have had a ton of blood work and have found no I’ll effects from meds.
Once you get on a roll, the morose expression will relax. I had friends turn away from me because of my depression. I have a pretty dry sense of humor, but my self-defeating sarcasm has really gone down. I feel a lot lighter. I have learned a boatload about mindfulness, the mind-body connection, and philosophy in just the last 2 years.
What kinds of models do you build? I recently took up watercolor painting to pass the time because I am still in post op recovery. I bet there are clubs by you for model builders. Do you like dogs or cats? Shelters are always looking for fosters. I have done that for years.
I can pull together some YouTubes or podcasts that you might like. Let me know.
Used to build military models. Been on ssdi for along while since 2000. Had dog he past 2021. In housing program. People who run it triggered me in 2018...down hill since then. Was into painting and drawing for while.
Anxiety so high now can barely think.
