Tanaya has witnessed other members of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community suffer from mental health illnesses but not reach out for the help they need because of stigmas within the community and lack of resources.

"At that time, I did not know what a panic attack was or how to help someone through one. I just knew my best friend was on the floor, suffering, and I needed to do something," Tanaya says.

Tanaya has published a book last year called “Stigma: Breaking the Asian American Silence on Mental Health” and advocates for AAPI mental health on her platform @Tanayawrites.
