Has anyone had experience of coming off Escitalopram. I take 1 x 20mg tablet per day for nearly 20 years? All feedback welcome

Coming off Escitalopram
I was on it for a few years and then went off it. I was on 30mg which was a significant dose considering I was a teenager at the time. I was slowly weaned off. It wasn’t too bad really, but it is important to do it slowly.
Hi Dario, The best advice is to do in consultation with your doctor. The plan should be taper off doses very slowly over a period of months. You could choose between 25 or 50% dose reductions with a 4 week plan e.g. 20,15,15,20,15,15,15 then next month 15, 10,10, 15,10,10,10.This has worked for me but may different for you. When you feel side effects are unbearable just go back to dose above and start again.
My doctor's against going cold turkey, should be avoided due to side effects.
Good luck with the process 🤞🦘
why get off? I came of sertraline after 21 years and my life has been a nightmare ever since- we cant find something else and I cant seem to go back on it due to severity of side effects now. If it works be cautious about getting off.
