What affects your work performance?

Alright guys my mind is constantly running and I'm tired of holding my thoughts in so I appreciate your input!! I have been having so much fear when it comes to work lately. I recently started my job in August. At first I felt unsure about the job because there was alot of steps to learn, but as time went on I felt pretty comfortable in what I was doing. I have always felt anxiety when making phone calls and go figure I get a job that involves calling people 😅 but I just pushed myself and told myself it's okay because I had a script to go off of. Overall my job is pretty simple. I work from 8-4:30, work from home, and I get paid good. But for the last few weeks I cannot force myself to do the work. I know I'm failing and I hate myself for that because it's so simple!! Everyone always tells me how awesome or lucky I am that I get to work from home.. i just don't feel that way and this is what I wanted/needed. I was no longer able to get up early get my kids ready for daycare go to work all day come home late just to eat and go to bed to do it all over again. Anyways I have so much fear of losing my job but it's still not enough for me to just do my job.

You first have to look at the blessing you've been given. The ability to work, the job, the working from home aspect, and the hours you are working. It might just be anxiety that you can't shake, maybe you can see about getting some therapy or medication (whatever works best for you) to help your work performance as well as outside of work. I will be praying that everything gets better for you. :)

I have been working in the same field for close to 20 years. It is not easy at all but I have always know how to solve everything, even in stress situations or with short deadlines. Since COVID happened I began to work from home, some of my peers where fired and I get all of their tasks, I am not able to get my work on time. What is worst, I began to feel blocked, not able to begin my task and with my mind trying to avoid it all the time, even when I am doing it. It is exhausting. Sometimes a call or a video call makes me feel so anxious that I end feeling that something hit my head and I am not able to concentrate in anything.I kept my job which is also well payed and in comparison to other people around me I think I have no right to feel this way or talk about it. I don’t understand why I feel this way or what to do to change it, I try to go step by step, day by day, but it begins to feel too long.

That probably doesn’t help you very much, I just though that even our circumstances are different we are going through something similar.

I have been working at home for years. I go to coworking spaces once or twice a week. I have a great setup at home but being around other people and connecting with like minded folks was missing. Plus my cat is super annoying sometimes. They usually even have some sort of casual happy hour with beer. I get a lot done too. Centered is a really good app for focus. Not sure if there is a windows version now. It is pretty good at keeping me on task. They have flow music which is specifically curated for focus.

Hi Unlimitedspace. anytime you have little ones and are working from home, youare already stressed out. Working in making phone calls is not as simple as one may

think. We never know what to expect at the other end and what that person may be

going through when your call is placed.

Unfortunately, unwanted calls can be taken as a nuisance and who gets the blame? YOU..

It doesn't seem to make any difference if you are selling something or not. I did that at

one time to make a little extra money. You think I was asking them for gold. Just wanted

to know if they had any clothes to donate for our Veterans.

For me, the tears and stress weren't worth the little I was getting paid. However, it did

make me have more empathy now from others trying to make a dime. :) xx

What about looking for another job? It will give you focus. If working at home is an advantage you would look for a job remotely while you are earning money. that would give you energy to do a better job at this one.

Hey! I did the same thing (new job) and am doing the same thing (freaking out/procrastinating/not doing my job)!!!!!

Amazing!!!

Is it possible that you perceive that your “grace period” at the new job has expired? You know, that wonderful time period where you can put up with anything, ask the boss anything, and get help and leeway for mistakes?

If so, the end of this honeymoon could be really scary. But that’s just a guess based on my experience.😀

If you are resistant to the work, the chances are you are resistant to some truth about what it may mean for you if you do it. Like, if I do this, what does it say about me? If I do this, what might happen? What if I make mistakes? If I do this, what might I miss out on? How do I feel when I do it? I recommend really getting to the bottom of why you are resistant. And be committed to justifying why it’s ok to be resistant and kind to yourself, no matter the reason. Please be kind to your resistant self. You might find your next small step from that kind space.

And if you want to post here, WE can offer those kind words. 😀😊👍🏼🌈
