Experience with duloxetine?

HI, my Dr is trying to get me to take duloxetine. I am phobic of medications because I was first prescribed them for panic attacks which the meds always made worse then were hard to stop when they didn't work.

Does anyone have experience with duloxetine? Getting on it, stopping it, effectiveness etc?

Thanks

I've been taking Duloxetine (90mg 1x/day) for roughly a year now and I must say that it works absolute wonders for my anxiety. I was on Venlafaxine 300mg prior to Duloxetine and found I was having some issues with motivation and my libido completely disappeared. Once I made the switch though, within a month, my mood swings were better, anxiety practically gone, libido back, and my self love/motivation are through the roof.

Mind you, this is coming from someone who adjusts their wiper speed because they feel others might judge them for going too quickly. That would think every laugh or conversation was about them. Would say "yes" to every social gathering but the night of, completely back out, because I was too anxious. Hated eating in public. Going out. Don't even get me started on phone calls.

Duloxetine got rid of all of those fears or AT LEAST helps manage them so that the room doesn't start getting dark, spinning, sweating, shaking, all that good stuff. I'd give it a shot but that's entirely your decision and your hesitancy is valid.

Thanks HS. I could use some motivation. How was it getting started? Was it Rocky?

I haven't experienced any adverse effects from Duloxetine. From when I started it to until now. Maybe I got really lucky but I've only seen positives from this medication .

Hi….I have now been on duloxetine for years.

I tried many other meds, that all left me a zombie. I was lifeless and could barely move or talk. I felt flat. Duloxetine leveled me out and left me calmer. And when you are calmer and less edgy. You think and feel better and you make better decisions and when things get better you are less anxious.

For you, it may well allow you to create and play more music… to breathe and relax.

I will probably be on duloxetine for rest of my life. I endorse it.

Thanks Ojailady.

Did you get any side effects especially when you started out?

It did not help me too much. I am now trying to wean off it slowly, and that is not much fun either. Having said that, medications work differently for everyone and you may have a very positive experience.
