I don't understand why there is no effort been made to discover promising medications for even the common Mental Illness? Is it because the death is not sudden like heart attacks and other vital organs failure?

I would say it's more because of the complex nature of the brain. We understand only so much about how are brains work but that knowledge is limited. We actually don't know why anesthesia works. We only know that it does work. We literally don't have a clue as to how it interacts with the brain to do what it does though. Also many medications run the risk of devolving dependency with mental illness such as benzodiazepines. And to top off all that only about half of people respond positively to these medications. So we are talking about a complex organ that we don't know everything about, and using medications to alter the state of the brain (chemical state) to control any kind of mental impairment. So it seems pretty logical to me as to why things are slow going. But people are doing new research all the time. Even with things like psilocybe cubensis (magic mushrooms) for treaments into depression and anxiety. All of which show promise. So things are being done but it's very complex and difficult.

I think your right on many terms😊

Hello. My response is similar to that of endofheartache1290. The brain is such a complex organ. No two people have the same mental experiences. I guess the same could be said of the physical as well, but somehow it's easier I guess. Maybe it has to do with black or white versus gray. For example, either you have or don't have this or that physical syndrome (black or white), but you might have pieces of this or that or multiple mental syndrome/s (grey area). What do you think?

This is also a common issue in terms of diagnosing a disorder. Many symptoms bleed together and so you can have multiple different symptoms for different things. Such as paranoia being a key aspect of schizophrenia but also bi polar disorder. The physical end is very much black and white. There is a problem with a virus well you treat the virus. If there is a problem with bacteria you treat the bacteria. If there is an issue with your blood pressure you reduce it. So on and so on. Now experiences are a totally different thing and MinnieMouse1234 is right in that everyone experiences it differently. Take pain. Pain is different for everyone based on many things. for some it may be a simple ache. Others stabbing pain. It's relative to the person. But as far as physical symptoms go you can usually better assess what the problem is and fix that easier.

Exactly!! I was also going to say that the physical doesn't speak. The mental does. For example, I have the very physical syndrome of Restless Legs Syndrome. My legs either lose control of they don't and they can't explain how they feel. We, on the other hand, can describe how we feel.

Correct but i was thinking it's the nerves which are more complex than brain. I have not seen one case with Neuro illness getting cured completely and permanently. But will this problem remain unsolved till the human race extinct? Whenever we see no solution we go to God, Even then not even one Einsten was born to study this disorder 😔. That's why most with mental illness choose to commit suicide.😔😔😔😔😔😔
