Does anyone know anything about xanax? The just recently switched me from Lorazepam.

Ativan (Lorazepam) and Xanax are both benzodiazepines used for the treatment of anxiety, and both are equally effective for that use. The differences are: Xanax has a quicker onset of effect, but a shorter duration of action (4 to 6 hours) compared with Ativan’s 8 hours.

It might be the shorter duration, so you may have symptoms of anxiety sooner then your use to. Is this something you take daily or as needed. What was the reason for the change?

The e.r. gave me xanax and my doctor won't give me Ativan too. (I'm sure because of how many people are addicted to pills). So know this is all I have . He told me to take one every night and every morning. Which sort of worries me. Because of the addiction

Before going to the er , did you take the Ativan daily. What is the dosage for Xanax currently. You are right to be considered about dependence, generally there better used as needed and not everyday.

Ativan was on a as needed basis but was only gave 5 a month I would take half of a half a mg. It would work fine. But now I have .25 of xanax

You could just take the xanax the same as needed. The .25mg is the lowest dose , so that reduces the possibility of dependence, but i wouldnt suggest taking it everyday for more than a few weeks. Do you feel that your anxiety level has increased since being in the er. I guess im not sure why they went from as needed to having you take it daily.

Hello, Xanax usually works within 30 minutes to relax anxiety. However when it wears off it could have some issues with increased anxiety. Especially since you were on another benzo in the past. I think you need to figure out the best time to take the xanax. I am a bad morning person, so I try *when needed, to take it in the morning to ease my morning anxiety. As with any new rx always try to find out if its working for you. I also find the more I take the xanax the more the tappering off is tougher. I dont take it everyday. I hope this helps. I havent taken anything today will be 2 1/2 days. I keep them by me but don't take them im hoping just having them buy me helps and I won't need them.

Like shit, I started taking my lorazepam again but it doesn't even do anything. Im so sick of feeling like this all the time

I haven't been feeling so great the last few days. It hard to figure out why it's bothering me so much.
