How effective is venlafaxine for social anxiety?

Does venlafaxine work for anxiety? I have been prescribed it but due to all of the scary reviews I now don’t want to take it. Could really use advice from people who are or who have been on the drug.

Hey, I am on it for about 6 months now. It made me feel incredibly tired and zombified to the point that I cannot get out of bed. Maybe it will be diferrent for you .

Hello. I have been taking 150mg daily for depression for so many years I cannot remember how long. It saved my life! I have no side effects at all except if I forget to take it for a few days. Recently things in my life got unbearably bad and my dose was increased to 225mg, again no side effects but it does lift my mood.

I wasn’t aware of negative side effects and I would say try it, if it doesn’t work out then get it changed. I wouldn’t be without now. Good luck.

I have never suffered with Social Anxiety so cannot really say, sorry.

Hi,

I took Venlafaxine for Depression and Anxiety. I had no side effects unless I forgot to take it (it has a very short half life so do try and take it at the same time every day). It was the best drug I took and it certainly gave me the lift I needed to get through the day. Remember everyone is different and I have found many people who take this drug at varying strengths suffer no side effects. If your GP / Psychiatrist / Physician has prescribed it then it will be for a very good reason and that is because they feel that this is the medicine for you. Please follow their advice (and not Dr. Google) because they know best. It will take a few weeks to kick in properly.

I’ve been on it for a few months and I feel the best I ever had. I would try it...why not? It might work for you and solve all your issues. My theory is why not, we are suffering so bad already, what’s the worst that could happen? If you get side effects you can come off the drug, better to just try it!
