Help for insomnia

I've been experiencing insomnia for the past 6 months and have tried almost everything besides medication. I have tried meditations, melatonin, not looking at my phone, etc. This post is supposed to be a list of things that I found helped a lot.

- DO NOT LOOK AT THE TIME! This only makes you more anxious. Cover up any clocks that you can see easily from your bed.

- White noise really helps. There is this app called Sleep Sounds where you can customize your own noises. You can change how much of each sound you hear or what kind of material rain is hitting against.

-Drink a hot beverage before bed, NOT COFFEE. Drink some sort of decaf tea. Twinnings tea is really good, just make sure it is decaf.

- Make sure your mind is at ease before trying to sleep. You can do this by reading, doodling, origami, listening to lofi hip hop or white noise.

-Counting. You don't need to count anything in particular. Just start counting. And if you loose track, just start over.

- When you can't sleep, open you eyes and think, "I am going to keep my eyes open for as long as possible." This will trick your brain to go against you and become sleepy. Trust me, it works. It may take some getting used to though.

- Wear loose PJs.

- Make your room cold. A lower body temperature makes you tired. You can also use heavy blankets to simulate the pressure of a hug. I know that helps me sleep.

If anyone has any other suggestions, please feel free to comment them! Hope this helps!
