Can sertraline effect your voice

I have been taking sertraline 8 weeks but at 5 weeks in I developed a hoarse voice and difficultly talking. My throat has constantly been dry on this drug too. I’ve been trying to wean myself off this medication the last 10 days and have a follow up with my doctor the end of next week. I’m just wondering if anyone else experienced this on sertraline?

It never even helped my anxiety so I need to find a new way of help but my doctor said anxiety can even cause voice palsy and didn’t really want me to stop this drug or switch :/

I have no idea I just feel so worried.

A side effect is a dry mouth so it could be that.

A few years ago though my anxiety affected my voice which went very hoarse and sometimes I could feel my throat closing up, very strange. I needed speech therapy but also found a helpful video online so let me know if you're interested and I'll try to find it.

Yes please that would be so helpful. My doctor says it’s probably all anxiety but because of covid and not seeing me in person I think what if it’s not! Over 3 weeks my voice has been hoarse now and I can’t raise my voice or talk for long without my throat drying up, it’s really horrid x

Hi, took me a while to track this down but for general information this is good:

I thought I had damaged my voice for good which was awful as use my voice in my job but it was 'non organic voice dysphonia' - stress causing voice problems and for me linked to menopause I think too.

What really helped me though was the exercises the doctor on this video was doing with someone as a demonstration, I used it to help get my voice back again.

I did also attend speech and language and go to a voice clinic where a group of people of all ages had the same issue as I had so I think it is common.
