Hi, I’ve been on citalopram 30mg for health anxiety for the majority of 4 years now. I’ve had night sweats on and off with this medication but I’ve noticed they have come back with a vengeance.
I suffer from health anxiety, this is why I am on the medication in the first place. Therefore my automatic response is to start googling night sweats and then fixate on the worst thing e.g cancer.
I’ve spent the last four years going down this slippery road and convincing myself that I’m going to die or not be around to see the kids grow up. My health anxiety started during my 1st pregnancy and never left me.
I’m not sure with all that is going on with covid if my anxiety has hit another level so anxiety is causing the night sweats or if the medication can randomly cause them even after 4 years.
Just reaching out if anyone else has these symptoms on antidepressants after years of taking them or if anyone can relate to me with health anxiety and feeling like most days that some serious illness or covid will kill you. We had a death in our extended family this week from covid so I know that will not have helped.
Just looking for anyone that understands to give me some hope.
Thanks x

Hi, sorry to hear you are suffering with health anxiety. I've been suffering every day for about 13 years. Even after going to several doctors several tests and ER visits.
It's very hard to overcome but remember you are not alone and there are people out there that understand. Somethings that have helped me are listening to the anxiety guru podcasts on the internet and the anxiety guy on YouTube. They have very good and in depth content about overcoming health anxiety.
Been on 20mg for 3 years due to years of unrelenting stress caused by going to the health services Ombudsman PHSO about a serious complaint they couldn't understand or resolve - they ended up lying and colluding with NHS to allow negligence in mental health deaths to continue. Definitely affected my circulation and temperature regulation but it was the only way I could sleep. It may have affected my vision and focusing too. Also had visual disturbances in the daytime. Had to avoid too much cover when sleeping but was freezing at first. After initial counselling for some months I sought alternative help on internet and rest my mind that I was not alone with same problems. Apparently many people have the same experience, and this is continually sanctioned by the Government because the PHSO is accountable to nobody, and attacking the complainant is their best tactic to close complaints. It's corrupt, and costing a lot more in collateral damage and extended harm.
