Does anyone have depression/anxiety that is associated with an autoimmune disease? I’ve got a whole list of symptoms that are common with autoimmune disease. Headaches, fatigue, chest rash, sun “allergy,” joint pain, Raynaud’s phenomenon and unexplainable fever are some of them. I’m going to be seeing a rheumatologist but I can’t get an appointment for at least another month. Has anyone else been through this?

Depression and Anxiety and lots of other conditions and symptoms can be caused by untreated Hypothyroidism which (in most cases) is caused by Autoimmune Thyroiditis.
I have :
Hashimoto's Autoimmune Thyroiditis & Hypothyroidism.
Was left undiagnosed and untreated for very many years so became very unwell.
Look at the list of "Symptoms of Underactive Thyroid " on the Thyroid UK website. See how many you have.
Write a list of all your symptoms. Take your temporature early morning and note if low (this too is a symptom ).
Ask your GP for an Ultrasound scan of your Thyroid and a referal to an Endocrinologist. If GP refuses ask the Rheumatologist. Show them your list of symptoms & say you'd like to eliminate Thyroiditis.
Also ask for the following blood tests :
TPOAb (Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies)
TgAb (Thyroglobulin Antibodies )
TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone )
FreeT3 (Free Triiodothyronine )
FreeT4 ( Free Thyroxine )
TT4 ( Total Thyroxine )
Also ask for some nutrients levels to be tested, and get prescriptions to treat any deficiencies:
Vitamin D
B12
Folate
and Ferritin
Hello i can relate, to what you write about thyroid disease. I also had thyroiditis and hypothhroidism that was untreated. Recently i had a complete thyoidectomy due to papillary thyroid cancer. Its amazing how much that little gland controls in your body and how little doctors seem to know about it. Would love to share stories. One of the many problems ive had to deal with due to thyroid problems is depression. Does depression and fatigue still effect you? Hope to chat sometime.
