How can I reduce a panic attack?
I’m dealing with the same problem now
When I was in a pinch and hyperventilating I used to chug a big glass of water, drinking lots of water made me slow down my breathing.
Hello,
Panic attacks (PA) is a condition that runs in my family. My mother has it, my aunt and lately my younger brother. I had my first PA when I was 30, just had my baby and I had post-par tum depression. I felt all the time anxious, scared to face the next PA. Thankfully, I was able to find help. Therapy combined with medication. To fin the right medication for me was not easy. I went through 5 different pills (THAT MADE ME FEEL EVEN WORSE!) before my psychiatrist prescribed me CELEXA. BY the third week of Celexa 20 mg, I felt my life was getting better, but still i felt anxiety, so my doctor order 40 mg and Oh Lord, i have not had a PA since then. Its been 8 years. I get anxious once in a while but never to the point to have a PA. Also, therapy helped me a lot. I learned to accept anxiety as part of my life, at the beginning of my treatment, when I felt the anxiety I would practice breathing deeply and welcoming the anxiety, talking to it and letting it know, I knew it was temporary. I know it is scary and exhausting to live with PA and anxiety, but BELIEVE ME, there is hope. Find help. Sending you love and my best wishes you find peace.
