Ssri and sleeplessness

Has anyone ever found that after a while on anti depressants they are better able to sleep? I suffered a trauma, cannot sleep well, and every time I try an ssri, my insomnia worsens thus I quit the medicine, My dr insists if I stay on the medicine, my sleep will improve. Any thoughts? Thx

I have never had any luck finding an SSRI that did not make my sleeping worse.
