Digging nails into palms

I have anxiety and during my attacks and even when I’m not having an attack I find myself digging my nails into my palm, there is now permanent marks as well as a blister. Can anyone recommend anything else that I can do during my attacks besides this.

Thanks

I do things with my hands as well. I like to use scented lotions, especially ones that have peppermint oil. I use sugar scrub on my hands and arms to get the sensory feeling. Silly Putty or Play Doh are good. There are a lot of stress balls or things that are squishy in the toy aisle of stores nowadays. You can dig your nails in there and squeeze the tension out. Sometimes I will put lotion on my hands and massage them. I spend time on each finger, very slowly. This releases the tension I tend to build up in them. Make sure you do deep breathing with all of these coping skills to calm your entire system down as well. Good luck!

I would take a rubber band and snap it on my wrist 😣. It too would leave marks. I recently found a bracelet with beads and lava rocks. You can put essential oils on the lava rocks. Every time you move your arm, you can smell it. It reminds me to take a deep breath. This relaxes me ❤️

Hi- When my father was diagnosed with some kind of illness, his doctor suggested to use squishy balls to release tension and help his body to relax. It worked for him, I hope this works for you too.

Please feel better soon. You are in my prayers. Take care, God bless.

Thanks so much. I have had one for a couple of days now and seems to be working great.

Try to hold a stress ball or playdough or something like that. I would do the same thing.
