I was a taxi driver and found that my anxiety made it very hard to focus, now that I have given up work my depression has gotten worse,
I feel like I am a failure and feel I should of been able to cope with working my children have grown, I have separated from my partner, all the good things that I had in my life have now gone and often cant even find a reason to get out of bed, does anybody else feel this way? I never thought my life would be this way

It sounds like you have had a pretty good go at life. I, myself am an empty nester too! It sounds like you should find yourself some kind of a hobby. Do you enjoy going fishing or do you like social events ( book clubs, sports, going to the gym...) How about a bowling league, community service, baking, a school volunteer, a volunteer coach...? Do you have any local friends you can get together with and go get a cup of coffee or have them over for dinner? Do you like to garden or maybe go to church and get to meet some new friends, Boy and Girls Club, a 4-H leader..? There are so many things a person can do. Do you like animals, maybe you can volunteer at an animal shelter.
There are so many people who can use your help in some manner. I know you will find that perfect opportunity!
I assume that you have been to counseling to help with your depression and anxiety, if not, that is your first order of business. If money is an issue, I would try going to a nearby church and talk to a pastor. Some churches today have wonderful volunteers who give their time to help because so many people today suffer from depression of some form. Some of these volunteers are actually professional counselors who volunteer during their off days or hours.
Try not to let that “I’m a failure” sink in, because it will really pull you down. Everyone is a success and at the same time everyone is a failure. It just depends on who you are comparing yourself to. If you can get by without harming anyone, that is a success, don’t you think? When you say the good things you had in your life are now gone, just adopt a new perspective. Your life has changed but there are so many things that we can appreciate. There will always be people who are worse off than you, and yet some of them get by cheerfully. I am not sure if you were referring to getting out of bed literally or metaphorically, but do try to go out of bed everyday, even just to walk around and to feel the sun and fresh air. Enjoy life.
