Valium Withdrawal

Hi everyone. Had to go to the Doctor today about a couple of things. He has now told me that I have to come off the Valium slowly and go back to see him in two weeks time.I am absolutely dreading it and panicking about it. I did tell him that but he was quite adamant

Hi Welshwoman53, yes withdrawing from diazepam can be hard, but doing it really slowly is the only way, just a small drop every few weeks, or whatever your doctor has said. I was on it a long time, tho only a small dose, but I get by now and only take it once or twice a week if I'm really distressed. I totally understand how you must be feeling especially if you've been on diazepam a long time - but don't give up, if you can manage to cut down even a little, but be sure to get all the support you can, and don't beat yourself up, just take it one day at a time. Aww thank you 'SO' much Sheena. I've started today to cut them down like the Doctor said but haven't been feeling too good. I think it's just the thought of it you know!! Feeling at the moment I'm not going to be able to do it, I have been on them quite a few years and Doctor says it's just the 'psychological dependency ' and they don't work after so long. I don't know, I'm not a Doctor lol. X
