I thinks it's pretty normal if you are having issues with anxiety , but when I was in a bad time with my anxiety, I lost about 18 lbs in about 6 weeks. I had no appetite, sometimes even the smell of food would make me feel unwell. I made sure I was eating something every day. I had milkshakes if I couldn't get much else down. I was also taking walks every day which probably added to the weight loss. Eventually, as my anxiety eased up, my appetite came back. There are still occasional days that I just don't feel like eating. If this is bad time for you, it could be possible. If you're worrying about it, maybe talk to your doctor. I went to see mine and it was because of the anxiety.

It definitely is if you have bad anxiety problems. I lost over 40 in a month due to anxiety. My appetite went and I was such a hypochondriac, it eventually drove me so crazy I was admitted to a hospital and went back on my meds. Long story short, definitely possible and very normal with anxiety and panic problems.

With depression, weight can go up and down. I've gained about 20 pounds since last summer. I was too skinny then, and now I'm battling an addiction to Hershey's Kisses. That and sitting around most of the winter, and on come the pounds. Chocolate! Now I need to lose a few pounds.

I would check with your doctor to make sure you're in good physical health, get your vital signs, do some blood work, just to be safe. 40 pounds is a lot.

If you can get them down, those nutrition drinks like Boost and Ensure might help keep you healthy. Best of luck to you and let us know how it goes!
