So i have GAD and i have involuntary thoughts frequently. This one symptom worries me though. I randomly at times remember smells and can vividly remember what it smells like. It's not like i cant smell other things when this happens. Should i be worried this is something serious

I'm not a doctor, but I think vividly remembering smells just means you have a good memory! It doesn't sound like anything to be worried about. You can always ask your doctor on your next visit.
Maybe your just remembering things...When I remember a smell....it's often a good memory like that of what a leather jacket smells like...cause something in the air just reminded me of that smell...and it's a good memory because I liked the person who wore a jacket that smelled like that. Sometimes in the early evening a smell of perfume....like scented flowers will kind of waft through the air...and it reminds me of a good day I had on a summers eve....
I agree with the replies you've gotten. It has been proven time and again that no sence is more strongly tied to memories than our sence of smell. Be it spring lilacs, the smell of the beach, or the fragrance of a specific perfume or cologne. Recalling a distant memory often also triggers a strong memories of scents associated with that memory, so strongly it is almost as though you actually smell hints of the strongly associated scent.
100% normal cognitive recall, and simply a sign that all is well.
