Spiritual Journey

I have been on a spiritual journey of sorts for a good while now. I was born and raised Catholic. In college I drifted away from the church. After the birth of my daughter I have been reading the bible more and reading about different religions. Last weekend I decided to try a Christian church in town. The mass was different from the traditional catholic mass I am used to. Everything seemed so positive and hopeful. People greeted me and told me hello. I really enjoyed the sermon. I feel different. I feel lighter almost. Anyone experience something like this? Any Christians out there with advice on becoming closer to God?
