Anticoagulant warfarin record
if you're not registered with GP you could still go to a local one and they should be able to advise you - if sintrom is not available the doses are easily converted to warfarin which acts in the same way (this is easily found via google)
Hi,no longer on Warfarin, low tolerance levels,so changed to Rivaroxaban.GP should have a clinic within surgery who will issue you with anti coag log book and take your bloods for levels. If GP does not have a clinic within the surgery he should refer you to a hospital clinic.Hope this helps, good luck.
Hi Ivan,
I have been taking warfarin anti-coagulant since 2013, due to a diagnosis of Atrial Fibrillation. I have my INR checked roughly every 2 months at my GP surgery, but could be done at any walk-in centre or hospital. Your GP should tell you the best place to go for this, even if your GP cannot provide this service. The INR "red spot" test give you the result while you wait, and whoever is charged with managing your anti-coagulant level, will adjust your dosage as necessary. Mine is controlled between 2 and 3 with a target of 2.5. You will be given a "yellow book" where all of your test results are recorded (date, time, INR reading) Alternatively ask GP about suitable "non-warfarin" anticoagulants (Rivaroxiban, Apixaban etc) as these may interact differently with your replacement aortic valve.
Speak to your GP, he/she is the expert.
Remember that the dose of sinthrom snd warfarin are NOT the same. Sinthrom is s stronger drug.
I am on Warfarin for life. Because of other meds I take which interact with Warfarin I have my bloods tested every 2 weeks at the local hospital warfarin clinic. If I need to amend my dosage the warfarin nurse phones me back the same day otherwise I receive a letter the next day giving my INR. Is this something you can investigate.
