Hi, a brief history to begin. In 2004 I had a Pulmonary Embolism as a result of surgery, 6 months on Warfarin followed.
Fast forward to 2017, and a d.v.t., was found in my right calf, completely out of nowhere, no surgery etc. I was put on Rivaroxaban for 3 months, and referred to Haemostasis/thrombosis clinic. After several blood tests, nothing was found, came off Rivaroxaban. The first d.v.t., was found in Feb 2017, then in November 2017, I had another d.v.t. same leg, different position. Back on Rivaroxaban indefinitely.
I have done some research of my own, (no i'm not a hypochondriac, I like to find reasons for these things) and discovered that severe B12 Deficiency, can possibly, over time, increase the risk of having more clots?
I was just wondering if anyone else had come across this information? I tried to discuss my findings with my g.p., but she wasn't interested. My own B12 reading is low/normal.
I was informed on Friday of last week that I will now be on Rivaroxaban for the rest of my life, but they have (in my opinion) no interest in finding out WHY after 14 years I have suddenly had 2 unprovoked d.v.t.'s within 12 months.
Anyway, i'd be interested to hear if anyone else has heard the B12 connection? Or are having d.v.t.'s for unknown reasons.
Thanks
Have a great day..
