I have been taking mirabegron for a number of years. For me, it's entirely successful. I am not sure why you have been given both meds, since, as far as I know, they both address the same problem - bladder not holding enough urine.

With AMN, the normal elasticity of the bladder doesn't work very well, so you want to pee too often. Mirabegron lets the bladder hold more before you get an urge t pee.

I also do a catheter first thing in the morning and before bed. So, at night time I start with an empty bladder.

I also use the Conveen penile sheath at night and during the day, so when the bladder is full, any overflow is into a bag.

If you are careful your should be able to avoid getting UTIs. Don't get constipation very often - is this a side effect of mirabegron?

Hope this helps.

that’s super helpful information and thank you for sharing so much it’s really appreciated. You raise a good point re: my gp prescribing both solifenacin and mirabegron when they both do the same thing - I’ll be losing that question to her tomorrow .

That s reassuring to know that mirabegron Has not affected you in terms of constipation or urinary retention ? Constipation is a listed ‘un common ‘ side effect ( 1 in 100 people may experience this symptom ) . I’m very careful with diet and avoiding alcohol , caffeine and spicy foods .Please clarify what you mean by AMN?

Hi,

I take Mirabegron it definitely relaxes the bladder even though I have Botox injections it still makes it better., I think constipation is part of AMN

All the best

Steve

I am pleased that my reply was helpful. But, you ask what is AMN. This makes me think that this group may not be any real help to you with your bladder problems.

This group is called AMN Easier because it's specifically for men and women with a genetic disease called adrenomyeloneuropathy - or AMN for short. A defective gene is the cause, but the pathology - the visible effects - is that, among other symptoms, we usually get problems with bladder and bowel incontinence. Hence drugs like mirabegron can help.

The sort of bladder problems you are experiencing might be caused by a number of other conditions, so I suggest your GP maybe needs to send you for a specialist examination. Has your GP not suggested this?

Best wishes
