prolia and forteo at the same time

well last week Mum's endo suggested forteo for 6-18mth, after 6 years prolia, then back to prolia. this was motivated due to possible vertebra fracture,

he didn't push it, said to look it up,

so i did,

i was sort of keen for change, though thinking to stick to what you know,

Mum also not keen on daily injection,

i said they're tiny,

and i was also keen for her to get her next dose of prolia as it was 3 weeks overdue, following dental surgery.

endo the next day was keen to start forteo,

then was a bit disappointed to find it Mum had taken the prolia the day before,

and wanted to start the forteo in a month, not much more,

as Mum's ostopenia is severe.

so it was a cluster of timing and appointments,

that is causing a delay to starting forteo,

which endo is really pushing for,

to build bone as soon as possible.

maybe i wish some change had been made before now.

at this stage i wonder if she would've had fractures with no prolia anyway, i don't know.

endo sounded urgent, based on m.r.i scan. i can't give details, but it's not a good report.

i wish endo had called as soon as he had the report which would've been almost a week ago.

anyway,

there seems no other options but to start forteo soon as possible,

Mum wants to wait 3 months, just a figure out of the air,

but endo says should be ok to start in a month.

i don't know how much he has prescribed it!, as he wasn't quite sure about, say, which pharmacy has it.

has anyone heard of taking prolia and forteo concurrently?

a couple of papers i read were saying that forteo to prolia was successful in building bone density, but not prolia to forteo.

i don't know if endo has read that,

or if they're published from labs bought by prolia.

Mum asked about fosamax at this appointment, he said it was the same action as prolia.

i asked about reclast, not knowing what it was, but he didn't know what it was either.

i've read in a paper a reference to concurrent doses, but it started with forteo for some months before adding prolia

i really pushed for Mum to keep her appointment for the prolia shot, maybe i should've just called the endo to check what the m.r.i result was

(compressed fracture)

...

the forteo is the only thing the endo has to offer.

it's very a bad situation.

any words of hope or perspective are welcomed

in a situation that Mum has been prescribed it, hasn't been interested,

i have slightly encouraged her to start it,

this is on top of prolia,

which i have read is ok to do,

but my main concern is what the endo intends to do when a prolia dose is due,

forteo doesn't stop bone loss that occurs after stopping prolia

so i've read in a small report that combination treatment is successful, but it didn't say what they mean by combination,

Mum has developed balance issues, also a some worsening of hearing loss,

i would attribute all or part to prolia,

as inner ears have bones, which will be at the effect of prolia,

and there's not much hope she can come off it safely.

if hearing loss and imbalance aren't on the official list of known side effects, the reason is due to lack of reporting,

as doctors will be told it's not a known side effect,

due to it not being reported!

this is a serious side effect.

are her doctors seeing it and not saying anything?

Mum also reported a couple of years ago losing flexibility and strength,

body stiff,

yes could be age but in recent weeks also hands have weakness when previously fine and no issues with strength

it's a mess

prolia is being used as a first line treatment.

this is lazy of doctors?

Mum's friend had severe back pain earlier this year,

i think found to be compression in vertebra ... decision - just put on to prolia.

otherwise healthy, happy, active, her husband is a hematologist,

i think she is medical, herself.
