I had 1 Prolia shot in Feb with many side effects. I’m going to see a Rheumatologist to Relay me off. I can’t take any Bisphosphonates because I had Gastric Bypass. I don’t know what to do. Is there anyone out there that been on Prolia and can’t take a Bisphosphonate? I would love to hear what you took in place. TY!

there are other alternatives , but I've realized it's which side effects you can tolerate .

Here's a site that lists everything used for Osteoporosis. I was surprised at the number.

Ty for the info. I was on Evista for 9 yrs. Dr said it’s not working now so gave me Prolia shot. Now I need a Bisphosphonates to relay off Prolia but I had Gastric Bypass and can’t take a Bisphosphonates. I’m seeing a Rheumatologist next week and I’m going to see if I can go back on Evista and see.

The word Jubbonti was added only 2 weeks ago as Amdgen are no more the only pharmaceutical company offering the same medication and formulation. Common practice by the way. They all retain the sole production for the first 10 or so yrs from initial new srug on the market I believe

Also pls note that Amdgen have finally published the recent updated version / advice on Prolia /Denosumad under the warning red box regarding the big heading Rebound. So now all consultant GPs and alike will have mo excuse not to mension the downside and limitations of this medication.

We can all find the initial finding of the study a few years back of Dr Lamy, swiss scientists, regarding stopping prolia in the fb group above mentioned, parked somewhere in FB group library mentioned earliet above.. Happy reading.

Deb967, I have been on Prolia for several years. I don't know if any of my other health problems have anything to do with Prolia but I've never been at ease with using it. Every time I mentioned to my PCP getting off it she would say there was no need so I finally changed to a different PCP who has started me on Reclast. I have had one infusion. No problems so far. I just want to say it's very hard to know what to do but I wish you the best.

I was going to ask for the Reclast IV but I researched it and I don’t like the serious side effects. I get side effects from everything. I can take a Serm or HRT.

Looks like I will be getting Reclast IV.

The once yearly bidphosphonate infusion (e.g. Reclast) may work for you since it bypasses the stomach. There will likely be side effects but probably for only a couple days post- treatment.

I too can’t take them. I wish there was something I could suggest but I am in the same boat as you l All I do is walk every day, I do some light weight exercises for my back /spine , take calcium with vitam D and get some sunshine . That may not be enough to save my bones but until they come up with something better I’m stuck .

I did try Forteo but I had so much body pain with it I gave up. Every joint hurt. These drugs are all so hard to take!

That’s 1 of the Side effects I’m having now from Prolia. Every bone in my body aches bad. I can hardly use my arms. I’m getting cortisol shots on Fri. For the arms. My Rheumatologist said the only thing I can take is Reclast IV cause of Gastric Bypass. She told me to Research it. So I am. She also said that Reclast isn’t as strong as Prolia. I was scared into taking Prolia with No research. I have done a lot since I got the shot and I never would have said yes. Thank God I only had 1 shot.
