Hello All..... I'm A 71 year old woman who has battled calcium deficiency for 20 yes. I now have Osteoporosis and take Prolia along with prescribed Calcitriol and ErgoCalciferol and numerous vitamins. My concern now is dental related. After spending thousands on my teeth, I am in need of a 7-tooth bridge preceded by 3 implants and bone grafts in 3 weeks.

Question... is it smart to spending $14,000 on this, or (without $$$'s in mind) would dentures be a better option?

I welcome your opinions.

The cost aside - does your dentist know that you are on Prolia? There is a risk of getting osteonecrosis of the jaw if any invasive dental work, ie. implants, bone grafts or extractions, is done while on Prolia. Missing an injection and waiting for a few weeks/months and then having dental work done comes with the risk of multiple vertebral fractures, so definitely not advisable. This is why doctors should warn their patients to have any invasive dental work done before they start Prolia injections.

Do proceed with utmost caution and discuss this with your dentist.

Yes, my dentist and oral surgeon aware of the Prolia. My Orthopedic doctor recommends dental work done towards the end of the 6 month Prolia injection. I'm trying to pay by their rules but was wondering if anyone has found just having more and more dental work is wise.
