On Dabigatran and have experienced nose bleed

Am staying at daughters for a few days. This morning I had an unexpected nose bleed, thankfully the first. She phoned her local GP and was advised to stem the bleeding by gripping tight the end of the nostril and also applying a bag of frozen peas to the back of the neck for 10mins. Thankfully this does sem to have 'done the trick'. Any other suggestions please.

I would definitely let your cardiologist who prescribed your dabigatran know that you've had the nose bleed. Any usual bleeding should be reported. That said, there are other causes of nosebleeds, especially in the winter when there is dry heat in the house but it is important to rule out the most important causes before checking out the easy stuff!
