Afib for past three years with three Cardioversions. Last one lasted only two weeks Changed to new Physician and had an Ablation with no issues in September. Felt better than I had in a long time. Fecainade Lopressor and Eliquis. (I am 84) Back in afib in early January. I am scheduled for a Cardioversion but feel they are ready to give up on me. Any thoughts? I have persistent afib and sounds like not much hope to improve.

I’ve had at least 4 cardioversions the longest lasted 11 months and after one of them I went back into AF 2 months after CV. I’ve managed to work out triggers. See if you can work any out… mine were alcohol caffeine then being active. Most recently I worked out I had HSV virus a cold sore then got AF… looking back a couple of years the same thing happened. In a major study of 40,000 people over 3 years it was shown those that have HSV virus had a 60% higher probability of getting AF vs the others who had no history of HSV virus.
The point is if we can find triggers then we can do things to mitigate AF returning. There is one fellow here who’s about 80 who’s had something like 24 CV’s!
As you are resident in USA, have you ever looked at the Dr Wolf minimaze procedure? He's located in Houston and has a website (easily found online, but I'm not allowed to post a link here🤔), and a Facebook group. And there's an online form process to start an inquiry about your eligibility and suitability.
Good luck.
