Much WOW! Afib and AI

Hi HUC.

Does AI ever stop developing?

No.

It can soon be used for detecting and treating Afib. There is also an AI robot that can operate on people with lung cancer. It's a shame we can't just post a link here without waiting for permission.

Google 'AI and Afib' to see how it can be used for Afib detection.

A new AI robot has been created at the University of Leeds that can perform operations on lung cancer patients (it's a few years away from being used). Google 'AI does surgery for lung cancer' for information about how AI contributes to medical care for cancer patients.

As I say on my new website about AI - The future is here today. Sorry, but I can't post a link here as it would be seen as self-promotion and against forum rules. However, as Google gives the site more authority you'll likely stumble across it online anyway. You'll know it's me if you do😉

AI is the technology that holds the key to mankind's future (this is inevitable). That will be for both good and bad but it's here to stay and isn't going away. Embrace the good!

Interesting how AI is going to help detect AFIB.

Are you finding a delay in getting approval to post a link? I requested to post a link 4 days ago with one moderator without a response, made the same request with a second moderator and also zero response.

Sure Rob. I asked if I could post a link on a Friday a while back and didn't recieve a reply until Monday. Then I was asked to send it to someone else. This would have meant a delay of about 5 days.

I wish HU would scrap this rule - it would make posting far more simple. I'm sure eagle-eyed posters would identify false information and either comment or report it as such. I think BobD checks all the posts anyway and would keep his eye on the ball concerning 'false news'. I put a post on about a month ago which I thought was correct information. The information I posted was from the drug manufacturers and the NHS website - I consider this to be a reputable site. However, there was another side to the coin and Jim quickly pointed this out to me (which I accept).

Personally, I think HU should allow links to be posted without prior permission.

That was my suggestion for improving NHS -g.p.s need an expert system to support them as it seems the amount of knowledge required has got too much for them and so treatments for some conditions is worse than it need be (eg thyoid and b12 problems). Depends whose knowledge it uses mind!

Hi Katie

The AI that can do surgery was self-taught. It learnt by watching videos of surgeons doing the operation. It is mooted that it causes 33% less damage to the lungs than human hands undertaking the same operation for lung cancer. My view is that in the future all operations will be done by an AI robot - including ablation!

You have a good point, Paul. I stopped posting when I could not substantiate my findings with medical research trials. For me, waiting for permission to post peer authenticated medical journal reported trials has too much red tape.
