Low heart rate post ablation

Hi,I had my ablation 1 week ago, which was successful and am now back in normal rthym but my HR is around 48-50 max when I take an ECG on my kardia device

Has anyone else experienced this?

I've had my Bisoprolol lowered to 1.25mg and have been asked to keep taking amiodarone until my follow up in 3 months.

I feel fine just a bit worried about my HR!

I know I'd want to reduce my bisoprolol dose if my pulse rate was low, not that yours is worryingly so and you're feeling well too. I would suggest calling your EP's secretary tomorrow to ask for advice, or just see how you get on over the coming week or so. What was your normal heart rate?

I have spoken to one of the clinicians and had my dosage dropped to 1.25mg which is the lowest. Before I went into AF my pulse was around 60

I do feel OK and appreciate my heart is still healing from the op

Maybe I'm just being inpatient?

My heart rate went from the 70’s to the 80’s after my ablation in Sept last year. It’s stayed like that.

Were you taking Amiodarone and Bisoprolol after the ablation?

No, Sotalol and Edoxaban.

Ah, OK, I think Amiodarone can lower the HR + the bisoprolol so maybe thats a double whammy for me

Maybe you should consult your Dr, to give you some peace of mind.

I can't help re Amiodarone but Bisoprolol definitely lowers the heart rate. Before getting my pace maker my resting HR was always around 50 but on Bisoprolol it dropped into the low 40's which made me feel awful.

Hopefully you will of all rate control drugs soon.

Tim.

Thanks, I am hoping that things will settle down and I'm just being a bit impatient The main thing is I feel ok

I had reverse - normal HR mid 50’s but after ablation had a couple of weeks mid 70’s but after a few probs it all settled back down again and back to mid 50’s. think I’ve heard it’s common to increase after ablation - I wouldn’t worry too much about it if you feel OK - HR is very individual - Some time before my ablation my HR came down to 40’s (Bisoprolol) and I didn’t feel fine but feel absolutely fine 50 and above

Thanks for the reply. As you say the main thing is that I feel pretty good,

I've never paid so much attention to my heart but since my issues started 5 years its on my mind a lot

My HR is 40 to 60, usually 50s. It normally gets lower with age, especially if you exercise. I take a low dose of metoprolol, but I've been taking it for many years, and am not sure it has much effect, as the few times I've forgotten it, I can't tell the difference. I guess it gives me a feeling of protection as much as anything.

It does feel low for me but I do feel OK.I maybe just need a bit more patience!

Thanks

I too have a heart rate 45-50 range since ablation and am on 1.25 mg Bisoprolol. But could not tolerate the Amiodarone. Feeling good recently, I just walk(stroll) the dog twice a day as exercise. My ablation was at the end of February and it took until late Summer before I began to feel 'normal'.

I had my first ablation 3 years ago and seem to remember feeling pretty good after a few weeks, I'm probably being a bit inpatient but also worried that a slow heart rate can lead to a pacemaker which I've never thought about. What was your HR before the ablation?

Since reading up about amiodarone it does say that it can also lower the heart rate along with the bisoprolol.

I feel fine so maybe just need to focus on that

Thanks
