Raised heart rate post ablation is common. usually around 80-85bpm and can congtinue for up to a year. All explaianed in our fact sheet on recovery
I expect its a reaction to the trauma of the rf ablation, and your nasty experience of it. Perhaps see if its still on the high side tomorrow and ring the arrythmia nurses if so? As Bob said hr after ablation is often a bit erratic after all the interference xx
I remember reading that a heightened heart rate after ablation is a good sign. Your whole body is adjusting to change after an ablation and sending kind and peaceful thoughts to your heart is probably more affective than bisoprolol at this stage - but do check that out with your cardio team! My heat rate was at its usual high following ablation for persistent AF until settling into its pre-AF 50-70 rate after a few months.
My heart rate has been consistently raised since my ablation last March. In the 80s seems to be my new normal
thanks all
Morning Len how are you doing
I had that, but put it down to the fact they did 6 attempts at getting the catheter in! I expect its all the disturbance. It was very sore when they did it,unexpectedly so.
Apparently I have thin veins...(?!)
Glad calming down.x
I had my first and only ablation several years ago. It was very successful. But i recall that it took me several weeks to feel normal again. I didn't tolerate the high dosage of Amiodorone. So just try not to worry. And, i would not take any meds unless authorized by your EP. I read many messages on this site that say heart rate is normally 50 to 60 bpm. I guess there is a reason for that, but normal bpm is 80 +/- 20. I have a pacemaker which is set on 70 bpm because my EP doesn't want it to be lower. And i feel great. Just curious why many HRs are so low, that's all
I am not a physician, but i see on this site that many people have a big fear that AFIB itself is deadly. I never worry because i am being treated. There are many people who have this terrible disease and have not been diagnosed. They are the ones who are most likely to suffer from a debilitating or deadly stroke. We are all being treated via blood thinners, heart procedures, etc. So i think our risk of that is low. My only complaint from AFIB is the fatigue and weaknesss. I had AV node ablation 2 weeks ago, and I'm expecting my energy level to improve. I really hope it does because like many of you, i want to regain my normal level of activity.
I guess what I'm trying to say Lenlec, is try to just rest and let your heart heal and listen to your EP and reach out to him/her if you feel you need to. I wish you good luck in recovering from the ablation and hope is successful for you. It will just take a little time.
We're all with you on this!!
