twenty four hours post ablation

I am tucked into the back of my daughter’s car with pillows and blanket less than 24 hrs post PFAblation in Boston. A longish drive home , but grateful and thankful n zero pain with only Tylenol earlier today. Waited 7 years with afib, Aflutter and tachycardia. Life quality got worse despite best medicine ,life style changes and good care . Today very hopeful. Had a great surgeon who did double procedure, detailed the afib with traditional ablation and pulse field ablation for tha a-fib. Only 3hrs. Time will tell but we will back off with he dofetilide ( was failing after 6years) and see what comes

Was worth the risk no doubt! Today I feel damn lucky. Thanks to all the encouragement over the years, dear friends. Hope i can return the favor

Hi there. 3 cheers for us determined ladies of a mature age! Aged 85 yrs young i had my ablation 2 weeks ago & have bought new walking boots ready for my favourite pastime!

Having survived the nightmare past 6 months that triggered my AFib I am now determined to enjoy whatever time is gifted to me

Very inspiring story 37Polly Best to You !

May I ask if your afib was paroxsymal or permanent ? And any other info pertaining to the decision. I am 77 and considering the same. Thanks !

Paroxysmal afib, but many persistent episodes of atypical aflutter and frequent tachycardia. Had a pacemaker inserted 4 years ago to deal with bradycardia, as I was brady-tachy, but it did nothing for the rest, and my dofetilide was failing after six years.

Went to best hospital in my region and newest technology. Fingers crossed 🤞.

Just read the ablation sheet. Scary, glad i waited to read it after. Choose the best doctor (learn from others) and the best hospital and it will be an easy trip. Outcomes may vary as all our conditions do but give yourself th best shot You will have a good story, not a painful scary one.

Read the recovery sheet a couple of times a day to remind yourself to take it slowly even if you feel ok.

Polly, well done! As a Welsh descendant, I paraphrase/ quote Dylan Thomas . Rage against the night!Salute you and wish you a grand,SLOW recovery. Don't get carried away and think to do a lot more than, read, rest, eat healthy, watch films, rest, repeat.

I was very afraid having an ablation in March this year (ablated for afib and flutter). I had a bit of ups and downs in the initial weeks but no episodes of AF that I know of and none since. January 2024 was the last one. Looking forward to my first holiday abroad in 5 days time.

I hope you get the same benefits, as you say if you are symptomatic afib controls your life, always waiting for the next episode!!

Hi polly. I had mine at the end of July. The support here has been amazing. First week I had higher heart rate. That is now completely back to normal after four weeks. Second week and ever since I have been getting ectopics daily and AF but this has reduced quite a lot to probably two or three two to three minute episodes. No sign of high heart rate yet. I have been told, and the health sheet says this is quite normal so am hoping that soon this will all subside. I wish you well on your journey. Let everyone look after you and you just sit back and relax to let yourself heal. Best wishes.

Thank you. Day 4. Migraines gone. Pain gone. Fever gone. Just dealing with zero appetite and low energy. Heart quiet and happy. Too good 😊 to believe. Reading a good book and letting blessed hubs wait on me.

I had an ablation in September last year. Thanks to the encouragement of people on here, I plucked up the courage to go ahead with it. I was scared, but all went well and hopefully it will keep away the awful AFib. Hope yours is successful.

I have been in persistent afib for the last 6 months. An RF ablation in May did no good, and the jsutimplanted a Watchman to address blood clots. Have a consultation regarding a convergent procedure that I hope might address the afib. Best to ou in your recovery.
