I’ve been looking at undertaking an ablation for my afib. However, I also suffer like most people with the disorder, daily ectopics. For those who have had an ablation and it was successful re the afib, do you still get ectopics or can it resolve this issue as well please? I realise an ablation may not be a cure but I’m just looking for real life experiences. Thank you.

Post ablation ectopics
My ectopics became more troublesome after my third ablation (which stopped the AF) with many thousand per day but after some months, thanks to learning the slow deep breathing trick and practising it everytime I had any they slowly dissapeared and have been no problem this last ten or twelve years.
Thanks Bob. Whilst the medication I’m on seems to work well at the moment I’ve got a massive dilemma about staying on them forever or biting the bullet and having an ablation.
Hi
What’s the breathing technique please
Hi Profound,
I still get a few ectopics now and then but not often. Ablation was performed last July. I had almost continual ectopics along with paroxysmal AFIB before the Ablation. My heart seemed to be constantly angry 😆.
It’s been so nice to feel normal for a while.
Hope your procedure goes as well or better.
Hi,I had my ablation in March and now get those flutters a lot but very mild and they don't go into full blown AF so as Bob said, the deep breathing also helps and all in all, its much more manageable. I no longer am on the Flecainide either so that has to be good I think. Good luck and stay well.

I had my ablation over 5 years ago and had very frequent ectopic's, I started taking magnesium turate as advised by Dr Sanjay Gupta and they work for me, placebo effect? Who knows all I do know is that my ectopic's have all but disappeared 🙂
Thanks Brizzy that’s very interesting. I was taking magnesium a few years ago and changed my brand and had a pretty bad reaction. 10,000 ectopics in a day which was scary. Haven’t taken magnesium since.
thanks Brizzy
I had an ablation on September 19th and started getting ectopic beats, which seemed more frequent than before, but they do say to expect this to happen. They seem to ease off for a few days and then return, but I’m hoping this will stop when it gets to December and the 3 months blanking period is over. I was scared of having an ablation, but If it does the trick and I don’t get AFib again, it will be worth having gone through that and also they’ll be taking me off the Sotalol, which will be good, as there are so many bad drug interactions with it, you have to be very careful what over the counter medication you take, or are prescribed. ( I keep the NICE drug interaction list on my phone) The Drs letter to my GP says I’ll be on anti-coagulants for life though.
Best wishes, whatever you decide to do.
