I am on 30 mg and have been taking them for many years. Unfortunately, I seem to have developed an allergy to them ( I think triggered by the sun) . It presents as tingling and itching. I will ask my GP if I can change to something else. Which is the closest please? Many thanks.
Edoxaban: I am on 30 mg and have been... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Edoxaban
Not sure what you mean by closest. Speak to your High Street pharmacist.
I’m on Apixaban which I believe is probably the nearest - many GPs tried to get us to switch to Edoxaban because it is a cheaper drug but my understanding is that the generic Apixaban is about the same cost wise and I’ve not had any problems with it. Only difference is it is twice daily but I see that a an advantage in that it has a shorter half life.
Other option is Rivaroxiban which is once daily but needs to be taken with a meal containing protein and some fat.
Edoxaban seems very popular with GPs,it was cheaper at one point, although Apixaban is now comparative. If it doesn't suit you, kick up a fuss ( the only way it seems now)
Don't put up with it xxx
Thanks for your replies. I will contact my GP and ask to go on Apixaban.
It will depend on the cause of the allergy since all of these work similarly. I think apixaban is the closest.

A month or so ago the pharmacy mistakenly gave me a 60mg instead of 30 and I didn't realise until 4 days had elapsed . I had the same reaction then but it cleared up after reverting to 30. It seems I have developed an intolerance. That incident has taught me to check my prescription!!

I had intense itching on apixaban so I couldn't take it. Its an unusual reaction and may be due to an autoimmune sensitivity (I have lupus, though its been in remission for years.) (Never tried other blood thinners, as I live in U.S. where drug makers rule and apixaban is so expensive that I had bought 3 months worth to save money and couldn't afford another try.)
Thank you cheriJOY and WildIris. It will be interesting to see what my GP says. This has come out of the blue.
