Hi just went on my NHS app to review my blood tests from GP end of January after stopping amniodrone from cardioversion. I noticed the Level said 7 out of the normal range and said borderline hyperthyroidism but my T4 was normal anyways I’m assuming GP has thought this is ok, does anyone know will my thyroid levels go back to normal once amniodrone is out of my system or should I be questioning this.

thyroid level after amniodrone

Yes I had this after taking amiodorone for about 3 months before and after 2nd cardioversion. I had regular - monthly blood tests to check this and this showed about 3 weeks after stopping amiodorone. Had another test about 4 weeks later and it was back in normal limits.
Phew thank you . I’m not booked in for any more blood tests so I’m assuming they think it will go down.
My thyroid level never lowered again after taking amiodarone (probably took it for about a year), from what I can recall my TSH was at 14 . My GP was waiting for months for it to return to normal after I stopped taking it and I had no energy whatsoever. After having a blood test at hospital the cardiologist there contacted my Dr's surgery and said I needed to go on Levothyroxine right away. At the time I knew nothing about thyroid levels and my Dr had never discussed my high level with with me.
I curse that drug.

It didn't prevent my AF either.
Hi
Because of ca thyroidectomy I take thyroxin Synthroid daily.
It also moves with eating various food. No soya products, no chlorine, fluoride, licorice. Too many greens from your normal.
You are taking too much.
TSH level is most imortant. NZ has a point so normality is .6 - 4.2 so if you are hyper you are taking a little too much. Try less 25mg for one day in each month. If hyper again take away 25mg for 2 days in each month and so on.
It could sort itself and back to normal.

If nothing was made of the results, then you will be fine. I'd guess the thyroid would be affected by amiodarone as it contains a lot of iodine. It is said to be a safe and effective drug when given in low dosage as happens today, but seems to be one many doctors do not like to use in the long term.

I took amiodarone pre and post mini maze surgery. Only for about 3 months, I had raised thyroid levels and so had to stop taking it, my thyroid levels are now back to normal range: I wasn’t on it that long and had regular blood tests.
