Hi I’ had my 3rd CV last Thursday . It was reverted after 1st go, and everything was great first time in over 3 years in sinus ryrhmn, I was elated and loved checking my Kardia seeing HR in sinus rythmn!
However today I’ve gone back to AF mode , whilst I’m pleased it lasted almost 6 days last two previous CVs only lasted less than a day. Difference this time I’m on cpap and ranolazine so maybe that’s why it lasted slightly longer also weight loss healthy eating exercise etc. Feel so annoyed with myself I just went for a slow 20 min walk nothing strenuous came back and it had reverted back to AF. Just wish it had lasted a bit longer so feeling rather sorry for myself.
I want ablation but I don’t don’t know if that’s long enough to prove I can have a sinus rythmn for a small amount of time? Is there a timescale as in they want to see you in SR for certain amount of time before agreeing to ablation?

As far as I know only a few minutes is sufficient. Jump on the ablation asap if you can, best wishes!
I think we can all understand your disappointment but from everything I have been told by them who know about these things, the answer is YES! especially if you were not taking something like Amiodarone either side of the CV. If you get the chance to talk to your Doctor, it might be worth asking if it would be suitable to try Flecainide as a PiP and possibly continue with a smaller daily maintenance dose. We are different but my CV lasted almost a year and after it failed, this regime kept me in rhythm for almost a year until I had my first ablation……
Oh I was on amniodrone as well glad I’m coming of it now hasn’t worked as af nurse had said well keep you on it for 6 months I was bit worried at that !
Thank you I’m back at hospital next Friday so I’m going to ask about that.
The simple answer is No. Actually, I don’t think you can get an ablation if your body shows the ability to stay in SR. The only time limits I’ve run into are those requiring me to wait and see if I convert back to SR before going ahead with a cardioversion or ablation. To date, I have never spontaneously converted, though I understand some do. So I just slog through the wait-and-see until my providers finally decide it’s time to do something. And then it’s more waiting in the ablation queue as I spend my days feeling like a soggy dishrag.
yeah I wish mine would convert back so much so I keep checking to no avail! Back to persistent af ☹️ and I’d be ok with that if it meant not feeling pants half the time. Guess it’s back to getting my big girl pants on and getting on with it.
My husbands ablation stopped working thst he had done in 2017 causing a stroke in July . He had a cardio version in November which lasted all of ten days , so not sure what the arrhythmia clinic have planned for him now . He is also in persistent AF aged 65 now
