So, last 10 days I noticed my eye whites are a bit yellow. Not extremely and not the complete area of whites but enough to get me worried a bit. I take propafenone 3 times a day and bisprolol once for the last 40 days since the afib diagnose.I presume this is because my liver is handling those medications but how safe is this?
I will do my blood work and urine again in 10 days just before I go to my first EP meeting.
But now Im thinking of doing bloodwork privately on monday to see whats up.
Although they told me that my bloodwork results where ok when I did them 30 days ago, I can see on the results that my bilirubin levels where more than normal and that usually makes eyes a bit yellow and is a sign of problems with the liver. But nobody told me that when I did the blood work.
Im not sure if I should wait my regular blood work in 10 days or go for the paying option and do it kn monday.
Im kinda worried and dont want to make more damage to my liver in extra 10 days if I wait.
Did anyone had experience with this?

The cause of the possibly elevated bilirubin needs to be found. It could be the propefenone or many other potentially dangerous causes . Hopefully it is the drug and a substitute can be found. I would pay for the labs now and a plan to diagnose the cause can be started when you are seen. Is your urine dark? This can be a sign of an elevated bilirubin. Good luck.etheral
I have leukemia in addition to AF and my bilirubin is always high. My hematologist doesn't worry about it. I haven't noticed yellowing however. If that is sudden for you and getting worse quickly, I would probably opt for labs sooner rather than later.
Personally I would ring NHS 111 if you are in the UK and ask them what you should do . They may send you up to the hospital and do the tests for you today
I'm not in UK. I'm in Croatia. I could go to the ER but I think that would be a bit extreme, to show up there and ask for a blood work because my eyes are a bit yellow. I have no other symptoms. Just a slightly yellow colored whites in my eyes and not the whole portion. Just in the middle, like a line. My upper and lower whites in the eye are white.
Yes I'm aware of that. That's why Im gonna call the clinic in the morning and pay to do my lab works on tuesday, because my regular blood and urine work is scheduled for 18.12. Thats not that far away but still, I want to see as soon as possible whats up with this. Our NHS is notorious for waiting. For even something simple as blood work, you need to wait 10-15 days to get it done.
Jaundice can be caused by many things and can often be temporary. There's a chance you need a change of medications, or even that you were born with something called Gilbert's syndrome, for example, a common enough genetic variation - but never knew about it, like a friend didn't, for many years. With this, virus infections and a range of other things can cause the liver to fail to deal with bile products, but only ever temporarily.
So, what's to do? Straight to the GP for a blood test is what I would be doing.
Well regarding virus infections, in addition to everything I've been sick from throat pain, sinuses blocked and a occasional attacks of dry cough. In short I probably have a cold. Its been going on for 5 days now. Maybe that also has something to do with it.
Im calling the clinic tomorrow morning and probably doing lab work the day after tomorrow.
you might need an echo of the liver, gallbladder, pancreas and bile ducts. And evidently blood tests with lipase , amylase , bilirubin, hepatic enzymes and sedimentation rate and CRP . All of above will give you a clear idea right away of your jaundice . If need be a CT scan of the abdomen. If you can do the echo in private do it because with NHS you might wait for a while. Exploration of jaundice is a long process . It could be anything from gallbladder stone to pancreas issues as well as drug hepatotoxicity and other causes Take care
Whoa. This is a lot of stuff you are mentioning and a lot of this stuff I would need to wait for months in my country. And I don't have the ability to throw my money easily like that with private services which are really expensive here. I'm doing my bloodwork in 2 days and will see from there what to do next.
I appreciate your reply, but the steps you mention are not easily and quickly available to me.
