It's now 10 days since my cryoablation and I just wanted to reassure those nervous folks waiting for theirs how well it all went.
I was admitted to the ward around 7.45 am, saw the consultant and thenwas taken to the cath lab recovery room at 8.45am to meet the anaesthetist and go through the checks etc. Within minutes I was taken to the cath lab and was anaesthetised before I barely had time to blink. The next thing I knew it was 12.55pm and it was all over. I was back in the ward with a very welcome cup of tea already provided. Food was offered but I declined although a chicken curry at 5.30pm went down very well. More drinks were brought as soon as one was finished and I was urged to keep drinking. Managed to wait for the toilet until I was allowed up at 4pm after being raised gradually during the afternoon. A bit headachy and shaky for the rest of the day and slept very badly but fine to go home by lunchtime the following day. Minimal bruising and no pain at all apart from the headache.
Have had bouts of ectopic beats at times almost every day but told this wasn't uncommon. No AF so far but it's still early days. Getting back to normal activities now but still getting very tired after a couple of hours activity, luckily I'm retired so can sit down for an hour then.
Good luck to all those still waiting and I hope your experience is as positive as mine.

Thank you for all your replies. It's good to have feedback from people who really understand how AF affects your life and what a huge decision it is to have an ablation. Good luck to you all in your own journey.
Thank you for your post! I am scheduled for February 8th here in the states. I think I am having the heat, not the freezing kind. I am nervous but glad to hear all went well with you. Wondering if you have any achiness in your chest?
My ablation was over three years ago now and was a very positive experience, no pain apart from headaches and very little bruising. I was tired more than usual for about a month but soon back to normal. It took a few months for everything to settle down and then I went about 15 months without a single episode. This was followed by three very short( approx 1.5 hours). I then had 11 months without an episode followed by two short episodes.
Before ablation I was having episodes two or three times a week lasting between eighteen and thirty six hours each which was exhausting, so for me, the ablation completely changed my life for the better and I wouldn't hesitate to have another if the need arose. Good luck with yours and I would love to hear how you get on.
