Ablation 2 🙁

Well I nearly made it 2 years but the AFib is back, my heart rate doesn’t race off like it did before and stays in the 60-70 range (my resting heart rate is 45-50) but it’s jittering all over the place. Started while watching Wimbledon, who knew tennis could be so exciting 🤣.

Anyway I had an appointment with my consultant luckily at the same time and he has put me back on his list at St Barts for another Ablation as I can’t take medication due to low heart rate. This time will be general anaesthetic as he wants to do a lengthier procedure 😳 I’m quite happy with that as I had sedation last time and it was horrendous, so here we go again!

Im sorry to hear that Foxy…

Did you mean that you didn’t have ablation last time …?

Not sure I understand .. I just had Cryro ablation (PVI) and was sedated… would not do it any other way.

I was awake for the ablation study …no sedation or anything…would never do that again….

Hi yes I had a cryo ablation back in 2021 with sedation, or should I say hardly any sedation!

I felt everything and it wasn’t very nice at all, he didn’t even do the final test as he said that he could see I had been through enough.

I always said I wouldn’t have another but when my consultant said it would have to be general this time, I thought I might as well go for it.

I think some people react to sedation better than others, some people it works very well and they don’t remember but with others it doesn’t work so well, if you’re one of the unlucky ones then it’s blooming terrible 😣

That is what they told me and so I am sorry that you’re not one of the lucky ones. When they get talking about which type of sedation and whether or not, it’s anaesthesia or whatever I am completely lost…

Chrissy, you have given me a little reassurance! I am due to have the same tomorrow and I will be sedated. I’m absolutely petrified xx

Easy peasy..

When you wake up if you’re like me, you’ll still be so drowsy. You’re probably sleep for most of the first day.

my procedure took four hours, so it’s not a quick thing.. here at least.

I had a problem with my blood pressure dropping very low after and I passed out lying down… And then they had a hard time getting my blood pressure app that is me. I don’t think that is normal..

Best of luck to you!

Let us know how you make out!

Thank you so much 😊 I have to be at Royal Stoke for 7.30am in the morning and they will go through my groin whilst sedated. Just want it over & done with now xx

Are you having PVI cryro ablation?

There are so many different types of alblation….

here to do the scope before, on the day, previous to Ablation for that one

I have to have the right hand side of the heart treated first for the Atrial flutter, then they are going to the back of the heart to freeze it … that’s all I know! They say it can take 2.5-4 hour’s depending, then I have to wait for 4 hours afterwards to be collected. X

interesting … from what i think I know, and it’s very little… I’m going into the right side of the heart, is much easier than breaking into the left side and going into the pulmonary veins…

but again, my information has been wrong before..

well, they keep you overnight?

No, it will be a day case, hopefully 🤞 if no issues. I have had to have an echocardiogram, ecg & lung function tests before this, I just want it over with now so I can resume my golf. I had a Cardioversion last October, it lasted 8 months but then the Flecainide caused the Atrial flutter, so they took me off that and started me on Amiodarone alongside my bisoprolol , my HR has been ok since, but this drug is not a nice drug and my cardiologist doesn’t want me to remain on it long term x

I was in 3 days because for PVI ablation they put a scope down your throat the day prior to ablation here.

You will be fine!!
