Plenty of people but having got rid of AF they don't waste their time staying here. (with one or two exceptions)
I'm only five weeks out, so too early too tell. However, studies show the current cryo balloon has similar outcomes and procedural risks to RF. That said, if Pulse Field Ablation (PFA) was available in the US, I would have preferred that. It's quicker and most importantly, safer than either RF or Cryo. It is now available in a few center in the UK and Europe, but if you can wait, should be widely available in next year or so.
Do you have just afib or flutter as well? If you have both, make sure your ep, will treat the flutter at the same time using RF. In the US, all cryo ep's are trained with RF for flutter and other points outside the pulmonary veins. Not sure about the UK and Europe.

I had cryo 5-16-23. Tuesday will be 3 weeks. I’m doing great! For both afib and flutter. I felt like everything I was reading was so negative, I asked if anyone had a good experience. Everything is going well for me. Thank you for responding. Where are you located? I’m in Scottsdale, AZ.

I had a cryo balloon ablation last September. Apart from a couple of short AF episodes in January, it seems to be holding. No AF since then. Fingers and toes crossed.
Cheers Blake (New Zealand)
I had my cryo in February this year and so far have had no episodes of AF, just had my 3 monthly check up and all ok 👍🏻
Nearly 8 years AF free and no meds. I have started to get occasional light episodes, about a year apart, still no meds.

I had cryo for SVT. They started with normal ablation but because I was going into total heart block they stopped and went with cryo.It was so near my AV node they had to call it a day .
That was over 3 years ago and I would say my SVT is better and very rarely end up in hospital it's not cured but that just because where they needed to ablate.
~Cryoablation Feb 2022 - awesome at time but sadly didn't last.
Rapid a/fib returned Mar 2023 from what I think was stressful event over 24 hour time frame.
Increased Metopropol which is holding presently - see EP in July for further direction.
Sorry I can't be more positive than that other than to say I was indeed very keen to have the procedure - nothing ventured nothing gained.
Good luck with your decision.
yes. Instead of weekly / bi weekly 8 hour monsters I have had one episode a year for1-2 hours
Cryo x 4 PVI almost 2 years ago at St Barts. Very brief 6 hr AF episode In the blanking period ( think it was after 3 weeks post cryo) but apart from that all good!! Still taking 2.5 Bisop Candersatan and spiron plus Riveraxaban. Hopefully doctor will further reduce Bisop soon to 1.25.
Yes, had one 5 years 5 months ago . No afib since. I have not taken ANY medication except paracetamol since May 2018.
I had my first ablation last November. I have come off Bisoprolol and Flecainide since then, improving my quality of life. In the last three months I have had two mild episodes lasting around two to three hours - my episodes before the ablation were not mild and lasted about twelve hours. Whether of not I need a second ablation, I’m really pleased to have had it and consider it a success.
Had a cryo ablation 9 years ago. Haven't looked back. I have the occasional episodes of AF for which I take Flecainide (PIP) but nothing like it was before the procedure.
A year ago on 1st June I had a cryoablation for AF and a CTI line for flutter. I had longstanding persistent AF and Flutter. I have had 2 episodes of AF since.1 in the first week, one with known cause ( ie GP advising me to cease all heart meds so could prescribed meds for back pain during first few weeks after ablation)
NOTHING since. I feel like a different person, everyone who knows me says the same .
I dithered for a long time on pros and cons, assisted by Covid lockdown, but have never regretted it.
I know things may change once I stop meds finally ( was planned to titrate down afterc6 months but delayed due to GP incident,)
I also know that AF may choose to reappear whenever it chooses lol!
My EP prefers a lot longer on meds afterwards to thoroughly reboot nsr.
My advice is to go for it!
I stay on here to support others.

Feb 2018
No meds
Long periods of normal rhythm. Recently had a few episodes, but they’ve reverted within 12-24 hours.
I take a PiP Bisoprolol & Flecainide at the onset of an episode.
Prior to the ablation my episodes lasted months and needed a hospital visit to revert plus daily meds while waiting
Life is relatively normal
3 years and 7 months. On no meds at all. I am female and 56.
